Tourists’ expectations are built up based on a series of information sources related to the tourism destination. Information sources are perceived in different ways by tourists. The objective of this research is to analyze the information sources that have an effect on tourist’s expectations of the destination they are travelling to. The method used in this research was a survey, followed by statistical analysis using multiple linear regressions. 1719 tourists were surveyed in three of Brazil’s main touristic destinations, Foz do Iguaçu, Fortaleza and Balneário Camboriú. This research identified that the sources of information that build expectations can change from one destination to another. Another important result is that the information sources only partially build expectations around the destination. It can be said that expectations are strongly built by offline information sources, possibly because these are more reliable.
